The Arts at Kew East Primary has a high profile.  Creative arts are so important for the self-esteem and self confidence in children’s development.  The Music Centre and the Band Program is something that makes us different to other schools.

The school Music program has long been a special feature of the school and this program has continued to develop the music options available to the children through the junior and senior band, ensemble groups, Marimba bands, singing groups and classroom program P – 6.  Each year our concert band competes in the Melbourne Bands Festival often with award winning results.

Instrumental music teachers provide tuition in small tutorial groups.  About 150 students learn a musical instrument at school which equates to more than half of our Year 3 to 6 students.  Our music tutors are an integral part of the Instrumental Program and along with our students, attend an annual Music Camp.  The culminating highlight of Instrumental Music Program is the Soiree held at the end year as a celebration of achievement.

The outstanding Italian curriculum introduces students to another language and is special because Signora Mirella speaks primarily in Italian to the students and they love it. Fortunately we still have a Library program to reinforce a love of literature and develop research skills.

The Physical Education and Sport program provides opportunities for all children to participate in fitness and skill development.  Our Physical Education and Sport program is of a high quality.  Each year we are proud to have student team or individual representation at zone and state level. Our specialist programs are outstanding.
